Home For those to whom other people’s cooking is an adventure and a new experience, Librizzi’s with its variety and originality will come as a joy. The restaurant is Italian: the accent Sicilian. Chef proprietor Filippo Librizzi is from Enna, Sicily. And as such, he never forgets that Sicily was once the seat of gastronomy, and its cooks were in worldwide demand. Likewise Signor Librizzi has always been sought after. A virtuoso on the Italian culinary scene, his talent was recognised early, when at seventeen he was head chef, catering for over 100 guests, in a Venice hotel. Since coming to Edinburgh, his creative skills have continued to delight discerning diners.
Italy is an overflowing storehouse of wonderful food: forests stocked with game, hills cloaked with vines and olive trees, plains that are vast vegetable gardens, and seas and lakes filled with fish. It is no wonder that the cuisine is so rich and diverse. Librizzi’s reflects this. Customers can eat A la Carte, choose from the Table d’hôte or Fish Menu, organise a set menu for special parties, or drop in between 12 – 2 pm for a business lunch. On offer you will find delicacies like Fegatini Di Pollo All’Aceto Balsamico – chicken livers made in to a superb dish, colourful fish meals to be savoured and remembered (Sea bass, Monkfish, Mullet are some of the fresh fish to be offered daily), excellent Italian soups – rich and full-bodied or light and subtly flavoured. And you’ll find plenty of verve and zest in the piquant sauces that Filippo conjures up, his use of herbs and flavourings, developing the flavour of some foods, refining the richness of others. The desserts are also magical, profiteroles filled with vanilla ice cream covered with hot chocolate sauce, and Tiramisu, literally “pick me up”, a very light sweet made with rum, eggs, coffee and mascarpone – a buttery white cheese with the texture of clotted cream.
Subtle, never bland: exuberant, never overpowering. This ristorante is exquisite. At the time of the Sicilian Vespers, the royalties of Europe went to the court of Palermo in Sicily for good food, wine and fun. At Librizzi we promise you will find all of these unsparingly. “Buon Appetito”.

Chef Filippo Librizzi promises 'the true taste of Sicily' in an exciting culinary diversion from the well-worn track of Italian food. The lunch menu offers classic dishes such as grilled sardines, and succulent lamb and pork meatballs served with sauteed potatoes.
At night, by candlelight, the table d'hote menu lists simple, fresh fish, meat and pasta dishes such as pasta quills with Sicilian sausage in a tomato and chilli sauce. Filippo's love of fish is reflected in the fish specials which change every few days. Desserts are divine
